The curious collection of a slightly mad scientist
UFO over DALLAS – Filmed from Plane – 03/21/2012 :
Is it a drone? Do they fly this fast?
A meteor could move that fast.
About the slowest straight winged aircraft can land is 110 knots (126.5 miles per hour, or 203.72 kilometers per hour). Assuming the plane was landing, there is only one animal in the world that could pass it up: Peregrine falcons are the world’s fastest animals since they can dive at 200 miles per hour (322 km per hour). The second fastest are swifts which can fly at 106 miles per hour (171 km per hour), but that’ s too slow. So, a diving Peregrine falcon is the fastest animal in the world and it could pass up a plane. A 747-400 usually lands at about 160 mph (260 km/h).
Drones? Sure. Easily. The Phantom Ray drone can reach speeds of 614 mph, making it one of the fastest drones on record… but there are no doubt even faster drones that are not on record.
Summary: If the plane is flying very close to 200 mph, and the video isn’t a hoax, it would be more likely to be a meteor or a drone than a bird.
