How to grow a new tooth in 9 weeks

20140412-073744.jpgThe loss of a tooth is a minor deformity and a major pain. Although dental implants are available, the healing process can take months on end, and implants that fail to align with the ever-growing jawbone tend to fall out. If only adult teeth could be regenerated, right?

According to a study published in the latest Journal of Dental Research, a new tissue regeneration technique may allow people to simply regrow a new set of pearly whites.

Dr. Jeremy Mao, the Edward V. Zegarelli Professor of Dental Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center, has unveiled a growth factor-infused, three-dimensional scaffold with the potential to regenerate an anatomically correct tooth in just nine weeks from implantation. By using a procedure developed in the university’s Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Laboratory, Dr. Mao can direct the body’s own stem cells toward the scaffold, which is made of natural materials. Once the stem cells have colonized the scaffold, a tooth can grow in the socket and then merge with the surrounding tissue.

Dr. Mao’s technique not only eliminates the need to grow teeth in a Petri dish, but it is the first to achieve regeneration of anatomically correct teeth by using the body’s own resources. Factor in the faster recovery time and the comparatively natural process of regrowth (as opposed to implantation), and you have a massively appealing dental treatment.

Columbia University has already filed patent applications in regard to the technology and is seeking associates to aid in its commercialization. In the meantime, Dr. Mao is considering the best approach for applying his technique to cost-effective clinical therapies.

I don’t recommend doing this at home just yet. If you don’t know what you are doing you might accidentally grow an ear, a toe, a nostril, or even a vagina in there, but the cool thing is that the success with animals was four years ago so they may have secret trials with humans going on already.

Do you have more info about growing teeth with LIPUS? There is a device clled SmileSonica, but it is difficult to get hold of.

Unintentionally I grew a new tooth in two weeks. Broke it off at the gum line, and was really shocked to see it regrow. Here is what I did. I had pinkeye that would not respond to anything else, so, being desperate, I started taking hot microcurrent baths, loaded with epsom salts. I put epsom salts in mainly for the electrical conductivity. Don’t worry–no worry about eletrocution. The machine was battery operated.

I had bought a used machine from Biotherapeutic Computers in West, Seattle, Washington, for facial toning and learned I could take therapeutic baths with it. Don’t go thinking you can buy one of their machines unless you are a licensed doctor, massage therapist, aesthetician, etc., or someone else with a similar license.

A microcurrent bath started to regenerate the nerves in a friend who had a stroke 10 years beforeo.. The feelings returned to her arm in 3 treatments, spaced over five days–one every other day. Then her paralyzed leg started to wake up. (But that’s another story)

The Biotherapeutic has been ordered by the FDA not to fix my machine, but to confiscate it if I ever brought it in for repair, and it will no longer work–died about 20 years ago, so I mourn the loss of it.

Back to the tooth story. My whole tooth grew back in about two weeks. I’m sure the microcurrent machine had a lot to do with the regeneration, but there were a couple of other things I did that might have figured into the equation. I made colloidal silver and drank 3-4 whole glasses of at least 10ppm daily. I had no way of measuring the total dissolved solids, so I really don’t know how potent it was. One website I visited said that 5-10ppm is a joke–won’t do anything. You probably need at least 100 ppm to kill germs and whatever, so who knows how potent my home brew was? Dr. Robert Becker (Not Bob Beck), wrote a book on healing incalcitrant bone breaks–the kind that don’t knit for months, and may end in amputation. His book talked about silver and microcurrent doing miracles for healing bones. Well, teeth are bones, and, in my ignorance, because of necessitiy, I combined the two and–voila! My tooth came back from the grave. Consciously, I would never have thought about combining these two modalities. I think it was a God thing. God works in mysterious ways.

Anyway, to top my efforts off, I had a huge cardboard box of organic seeded grapes a friend of my ex-husband gave him. I juiced and drank 2-3 glasses daily. In addition, I ground up the grape seeds over and over again in our Champion juicer and added them to the juice. Dang! Those seeds were bitter–didn’t help the flavor at all, but might have contributed to the tooth healing, so that is why I mentioned it here. I am positive that at least the microcurrent and colloidal silver together worked miracles, and the grape juice & grape seed pulp certainly didn’t hurt.
