Woman killed by clothing donation bin

Judith deserved better, even if she was stealing clothes from the poor using a Hummer as a getaway car.

A 56-year-old Pennsylvania woman has died after her arm became trapped in a charity donation bin. Judith Permar was dropping off clothes into the metal structure when a step stool she was using gave way and she was left hanging. Her left arm and wrist were broken and she spent more than six hours outside in the cold, a coroner said. A combination of trauma injuries and hypothermia caused her death on Sunday, found a post-mortem examination. Mrs Permar, who was said to be short, was found with her feet suspended above the ground, investigators say. It is thought she became stuck at around 02:00 local time while delivering the clothing near her home. She was pronounced dead at the scene in the town of Natalie. Her black Hummer was nearby with its engine still running. Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley ruled the death accidental.

I don’t know if the bin in the image I used was involved in the accident, but I assume it was a big one like this from the story.

“She was fishing bags out and the ladder she was standing on gave way and she couldn’t get her hand loose,” he said.

Hollerbush said bags containing shoes and clothes were found on the ground near the bin and her black Hummer was nearby with the engine still running.

“It wasn’t something that I would expect to be seeing,” he said, adding that he knew Permar.

Apparently, this wasn’t her first time stealing items from the drop-off box.

Hollerbush said police received a call in November about a woman driving a black Hummer who was taking items from the bin.
