Meet the Endangered Shoebill

The Shoebill, found in East Africa from Sudan to Zambia, is an endangered stork-like bird that forages for fish in swamp lands.

As you enjoy this ancient looking true strange bird, think about this: Most species that have ever lived on the earth are entirely unknown to us because the conditions to make a fossil are so rare. What strange creatures walked the land where you are now a few hundred million years ago?
