Last night I could watch the SciFi series “Earth Final Conflict” with Amazon Prime Video, but this morning I cannot. Amazon Customer Care says I now need to pay for a subscription to a “Comic Con Channel” to finish watching the second half of Season 5 (after I watched the other 4 seasons), as of this morning.
There is a free trial for ComicCon but reviews give the channel 1 star, you can’t join from within the Amazon Prime Video app, and if you forget to cancel, you get billed an extra $4.99 a month. Besides, the point is, I’m already paying for a yearly Prime Video subscription.
I’m out. The EFC series was starting to get bad anyway. I fault the budget and writers, not the actors. It went from somewhat interesting alien characters to campy alien horse breath vampires and a female lead acting too far out of character in Season 5. I didn’t see chemistry between her and Boone that made their relationship make sense, (wait, why are they kissing?!) and why would she stupidly give up her weapons at a health spa when the Street character had been wrong two episodes back and had nearly gotten them killed by trusting an Ativis? It is quite clear from the preceding four seasons that the bad guys can show up anywhere on earth at anytime. Writers, unless they are possessed or mind controlled, don’t make your lead characters suddenly go stupid after many episodes of them being strong and steadfast in fighting for what is right.
Anyway, be warned, Amazon Video may switch out to a paid additional channel subscription for any series you are watching when you are partway through. Suggestion: Use the download option and grab all the free shows while you can. Who knows how long they will last. 😐
