Video: Nazi-Marked Plane Crashes Onto California Freeway, Bursts Into Flames

Here’s some recent true strange news: A single propeller aircraft (later identified as an AT6/SJN from 1958) with Nazi markings crashed about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday near Liberty Canyon Road on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Agoura Hills. It actually landed fine but hit the divider and burst into flames when the pilot, Robert Sandberg, 43, of Camarillo, had to turn quickly as he landed to avoid a car. No one was injured.

A vintage aircraft with some of the markings of Nazi Germany’s Luftwaffe crashed onto the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills, California on Tuesday and burst into flames.

No one was injured.

Despite the use of the Luftwaffe’s black-and-white cross, the plane was not a WWII aircraft from Germany but rather a vintage North American AT-6/SNJ trainer aircraft. The plane belonged to Condor Squadron, a nonprofit organization which flies WWII-themed planes over parades, celebrations, memorials and in mock dogfights.

I picked a spot on the freeway where I knew there was a big section of cars that weren’t there,” pilot Rob Sandberg told KABC. “The engine completely failed. I was able to, fortunately, not hurt anybody other than the airplane.”

Chris Rushing, president of Condor Squadron, told the Los Angeles Times the plane suffered “a catastrophic failure

The pilot of the plane issued an emergency alert at around 1:45 p.m. when he lost power after taking off from Van Nuys Airport, California Highway Patrol Capt. Johnny Starling told KTLA.

“He heard a couple of loud pops in the engine…He was able to control it and was trying to land on the 101 Freeway but there was a car in front of him,” Starling said. “So as he landed, touched down, he had to jerk the wheel hard to the left to avoid the vehicle. That’s when he crashed into the center divider.”

Crews responded to the incident just before 2 p.m., according to the L.A. County Fire Department.

The pilot was removed from the aircraft, and no other vehicles were involved, the agency said. Footage from the scene shows firefighters extinguishing flames that consumed the body of the plane.

According to CHP, the pilot, who has 30 years of experience and flies for commercial airlines, walked away having only singed his hair from the fire.

An aviation source provided KTLA with the suspected tail number of the aircraft, which matched the Federal Aviation Administration record for a fixed-wing single-engine plane registered to Condor Squadron, a Van Nuys-based group that flies restored World War II-era aircraft. …

Chris Rushing, president of the nonprofit Condor Squadron, said the plane belongs to his organisation. The FAA registry for the tail number describes the plane as a 1958 SNJ-5, which is a modified T-6 Texan.

The AT-6 was developed in the 1930s, and was used to train USA pilots during World War II.

After some digging, I found this video of the landing.

For the time-travel believers and skeptics who say, “Where is the pilot then?” Here he is from a 2012 interview, but I haven’t found any video or images showing him at the scene as of yet.

The wormhole theory is right out. This is totally NOT a case of a real Nazi war plane time-traveling and the media using old footage of Mr. Sandberg to cover it up, m’kay. 😉
