One goal of TrueStrange.com is to make people smarter by sharing anomalies and curiosities. Intelligence, like consciousness, is not a single thing, but rather is a collection of different abilities to accept and process information to get useful results in different contexts. We know from a 2012 study looking at over 100,000 people one can be brilliant in one area and average in another. There are individuals, however, who score extremely high on IQ tests, people with impressive mental abilities across different areas which designers of IQ tests think should rightly measure intelligence. They are exceptionally good at selecting and combining different mental abilities as needed for effective adaptation. On the assumption that we can learn from people with high IQs, below are the web sites of the “10 most intelligent people of the world” again, with “intelligence” being defined by select abilities on IQ tests, perhaps chiefly short-term memory, reasoning, and verbal recall.
