Dashcam Video: Lightning Strikes a Street Light

You don’t see this often: A dashcam video captured a street light being destroyed by a lightning bolt in Australia yesterday.

An Australian driver’s dashboard camera captured the moment a bolt of lightning struck a streetlight a short distance in front of him.

The video, recorded Thursday on a road in Marsden Park, New South Wales, shows traffic moving slowly in stormy weather when a bolt of lightning strikes a nearby street lamp.

The lightning causes the lamp’s bulb to explode, raining debris down on the road below.

The footage was captured amid widespread lightning storms in New South Wales.
