I’ve seen sun dogs before and have probably blogged about them, but cold weather as a cause got my attention due to my quest to take my fiancé’s ashes up to Alaska.
Here are the sun dogs:
Sub-zero temperatures in West Michigan led to many residents spotting a “sun dog” phenomenon that made it look as though there were two extra suns in the sky.
Photos snapped Thursday morning in various locations on the lower west side of the state show the sun being flanked by two illusion suns caused by the refraction of sunlight off ice crystals in the atmosphere.
The illusion was spotted as temperatures in the area were below -10 degrees for the second consecutive day.
The National Weather Service saidthe ice crystals also created a “sun pillar” above the sun that is visible in some photographs.
I’ve been working hard to prepare for Alaska. In the last few days I cleared out my storage and gave almost everything to charity. Kitchen, bedroom, office, bathroom … how much was it all worth? $30,000? $60,000? But my heart today said give bigger than you think you can. So I did. I let so much go. If you don’t need something for two years, no matter how dear it is to you, you can let someone else enjoy it.
After my car break in, identity theft and check fraud–unsolved crimes for which there is bank video and other evidence–I have continued to have apparent breakins to my car, so I upgraded my alarm. (Then my alarm started going off at weird times for no reason.) Little things still seem to appear and dissapear from my car. Bad memory? Gaslighting? Paranormal activity?
When a private investigator, ex-cop, ex-german military guy I hired passed away unexpectedly from a brain annurism, I got even more freaked out. His wife said he was working on many cases and it was not related to me, but he did pass almost 2 years to the day after my fiancée died.
True strange stuff.
In response to all this, I started setting little low tech tripwires: tape across a door, etc. so you know someone has been in. From that, I know someone was in my storage unit a few times. Silent break-in. Pick the lock, put it back on. Weird. Why? It was so disorganized that I wouldn’t know what was missing. Now I wish I’d set up cameras inside, but who does that? Nothing I could report, so I just make a mental note of it. The live-in manager also left the gate open overnight on accident a few times this month, I was told. An employee comfirmed. Noted. Anyway, the place also just upgraded the security cameras a week or two ago, so now they will have better monitoring.
For those following the sub-story of my being digitally stalked, there are indications that even after reporting it to Apple and to my cell carrier, and also changing my phone number, someone who doesn’t like me (or is trying to help me by scaring the living crap out of me) has access to my texts, to my unpublished WordPress posts including images, and to my location if my phone is on and unshielded.
Can forces help flawed-but-kind old Xeno do his intended work of love and music? My songs need guitars, but I need to be not freaked out to get that work done.
My phone is off and sealed away most of the day these days. When I consider the super powers at play with full digital access to me, it seems only God can help. So, freaked out, I opened that door recently. I sat. I listened. I sang. Fellowship happened.
I’ve been solidly on the science side of the isle for years, but I do admit there is more. More to the universe.
Bible study with friends? Weird for me, but yes. I have a lot to learn, a long way to grow. Many of my religious friends will be glad to hear that I have come to meet them. For me, it only counts if it is authentic as evidenced by acts of love, compassion, etc.
Giving almost all of my collected life posessions away today was a start. Do what is hard and your life will get easier?
Enjoy the sundogs if the cold ever brings them your way.
