The rise of the reboot

Rather than come up with a new idea, several television companies and producers have decided that it’s better to do a reboot. The only trouble with a reboot is that you are taking, in some circumstances, a much-loved TV show and making significant changes to it.

For many fans, this is the final straw, and the Internet is full of people who are quite happy to voice this opinion. No show can be seen, rebooted or otherwise unless you have a good level of reception. This is why it’s necessary to have a TV aerial repair Cheltenham based company like steveunettaerials.co.uk/our-services/aerial-services/tv-aerial-repair/tv-aerial-repair-cheltenham/ as an option.

A reboot is not a sequel. There are “nods” to the original show, but it is not a continuation of the original show. Some of the character names are the same, and the motivations may also be similar, but that’s it. This generally goes one of two ways. For example, Netflix has rebooted Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. Unlike the original, a fluffy, cutesy coming of age show featuring the very blonde, all American Melissa Joan Hart, Netflix has launched it as a dark mystery laden show with open displays of pagan rites and witchcraft.

Another well-received reboot is that of Battlestar Galactica in 2003. Based on the slightly campy 1970s version, this is a gritty update. The Cylons are not all stumbling robots. They have adapted. Starbuck is a woman instead of a cigar-chomping womaniser.
