How Will Humans Write Dates in a Million Years?

Will humans a million years from now write a date like “February 25, 1002018,” or perhaps as “MysehC.55” (see below) or something else, some new alien Star Date type system? Will we need dates at all? If humanity and written language survive a million years, it is difficult to imagine that they will keep using the same starting point we have now. Consider the Long Now conventions for date use: The Long Now Foundation uses five-digit dates to guard against the deca-millennium bug (the “Y10K” problem) which will come into effect in about 8,000 years. As you may have noticed … Continue reading How Will Humans Write Dates in a Million Years?

Billion Year Data Storage

How can my 100 original song project be enjoyed by whatever humans exist in one million years? For starters, I’ll need very long term data storage. To make the million year mark with a margin for safety, one option may be storage on tungsten disks. There will likely come a day when humanity itself has shuffled off the mortal coil, leaving behind nothing but data to list our accomplishments. However, most of the data storage methods we currently have only last a few decades if we’re lucky. The accumulated history of mankind surely deserves more longevity than that, doesn’t it? … Continue reading Billion Year Data Storage

Human-Sheep Hybrids Created, Replacement Organ Breakthrough

Human-Sheep hybrids have been recently created and the plan is to use them to grow replacement organs for humans. What’s wrong with this picture? First, it may be not be necessary. Some researchers know that Type 2 diabetes is not the incurable progressive disease some medical experts claim. Many patients hear the hopelessness, believe it and give up living. Type 2 diabetes will reverse if you shed less than a gram of fat in the pancreas and this can be accomplished with diet and exercise, without drugs. Diabetes is a big growing business. One business plan for treating it involves … Continue reading Human-Sheep Hybrids Created, Replacement Organ Breakthrough

Video: Life-like, animal-inspired robots can now open doors

This video is a must see. In it a dog-like robot opens a door. Also check out the second video below where a similar robot slips on a banana peel, puts away dishes and fetches a beer. This is the SpotMini by robot maker Boston Dynamics. Robot maker Boston Dynamics, now owned by Japanese telecom and tech giant SoftBank, just published a short YouTube clip featuring a new, more advanced version of its SpotMini robot. SpotMini, first unveiled in June 2016, started out as a giraffe-looking chore bot that was pretty terrible at performing tasks around the house, and, in … Continue reading Video: Life-like, animal-inspired robots can now open doors

Earth Ship Warning Light Blinking: Atmosphere Leak

The Falcon Heavy rocket was more than a publicity stunt or brilliant advertising for a car company. Don’t panic, but a warning light is blinking on our Earth ship’s console. Long range sensors show that our atmosphere is leaking away into space. Every day we lose around 90 tons of gasses from our upper atmosphere. Governments know this. Missions such as ESA’s Cluster fleet have long been investigating this leakage. A prevailing theory holds that the earth’s magnetic field keeps the solar wind from stripping away our atmosphere at an even faster rate than it is disappearing and that we … Continue reading Earth Ship Warning Light Blinking: Atmosphere Leak

Odd: Falcon Heavy Launch of Red Tesla to Mars, Xeno Music Vid

In days, on Feb 6, a red Tesla Roadster lifts off for Mars in Earth’s most powerful rocket, the Falcon Heavy. Oddly, I drove “red space Tesla” in a music video months before having any clue about this–for a song I sang on and produced called High On Love (Can’t Get Too). In it, I lift off in the world’s most powerful rocket (a Saturn V) and pilot a cherry red Tesla Roadster in space to a backup planet. The low budget music video with my friend Karen is due to launch the same day as the Falcon Heavy’s launch. … Continue reading Odd: Falcon Heavy Launch of Red Tesla to Mars, Xeno Music Vid

Australian Heat Wave: Over 200 ‘Boiled’ Bats Fall From the Sky + Heat Wave Cause

Climate change is not going away. This will be a difficult year for some life on earth. Case in point, extreme heat is ‘boiling’ the brains of bats in southern Australia. More than 200 bats have lost their lives to southern Australia’s ongoing heat wave. As temperatures rose to 111.5 degrees Fahrenheit (44.2 degrees Celsius) in Campbelltown in the Australian state of New South Wales, a colony of flying fox bats that lives near the town’s train station felt the effects. Volunteers struggled to rescue the heat-stricken bats, according to the Campbelltown-Macarthur Advertiser, but at least 204 individual animals, mostly … Continue reading Australian Heat Wave: Over 200 ‘Boiled’ Bats Fall From the Sky + Heat Wave Cause

Explain This: Crazy Crack in Surface of Pacific Ocean (California Coast)

Can you guess what caused this UEP (Unexplained Earth Phenomena)? I took this photo on August 21, 2017 at 3:42 PM while visiting the lighthouse at Point Bonita. I remember feeling strangely unsettled when I looked out at the ocean. It first, I saw it, but I didn’t see it. I mean, it was clear, but I subconsciously assumed it was a reflection from clouds or sunlight. When I took a real look, I was baffled. It was a physical thing out there in the ocean so big that it stretched to the horizon. What the heck?! As the size … Continue reading Explain This: Crazy Crack in Surface of Pacific Ocean (California Coast)
