The Great American Right to Complain

For 30+ years as a news hound and reporter of weird stuff, I, Xeno, have believed it is the duty of Americans to speak up truthfully about what they like and dislike.

We have the right to complain, to make things better. This was true in the past. Is it still?

I like peace, non-violence, transparency in government and privacy and fair voting for the public. I oppose violence and support peaceful plans.

I try to read a broad spectrum of news and ideas, but don’t agree with everyone or everything I read or see. Reading is not approving, obviously.

Long ago, I found and interviewed a man when researching “reptilian aliens” (they are just metaphorical, in my view) who advocated over email “storming Area 51”. I disagreed with his plan because the real Area 51 is on a US military base, it is still run by the CIA as far as I know and I also thought he might be an agent of a foreign government. You never know. I’m not into anything subversive, I follow laws and believe in peaceful change.

One thing I read about Area 51 that was reinforced by real voices of government employees in the news, was that people working within agencies don’t always agree with policies they are supposed to follow. It is the duty of workers to follow the direction set by leadership, but there were differences of opinion within, just as within the FBI, and also between agencies. I’m no insider, this is just what I gleaned over the years.

I like the idea of humans getting organized as a species, but not under fascism. I don’t like Nazis or any other violent war-promoting control freaks. The idea of people writing about Reptilian Aliens, as I have understood it, is that there are factions of “cold blooded” ideological Nazis in the US government. Some were imported from Germany after the war in Operation Paperclip and these scientists grew in power in the Shadow Government. They are opposed by other groups that take seriously their oath to uphold the Constitution and to protect citizen’s rights to complain.

Until the mainstream news started talking about the Shadow Government after the attacks of 9/11/2001, I didn’t think there really was such a thing. After learning there is, I still placed my faith in the good side of the inner US government, writing articles on such as 10 Proven Conspiracies and Why I Still Trust the Government. (The upshot was that “the Government” is not a single thing, it is different groups with different goals and ideals, many competing.) Conspiracy is a real thing; we have laws against it in the USA and people, including members of Congress, have gone to prison for it. Not every conspiracy theory is true, but some are, investigators have to look at the facts, the real facts, when available.

I keep repeating that I support peaceful change because it is true and because, on the spooky side, I fear that vocal people who complain peacefully, may one day be attacked, framed as radicals or turned into criminals in political theater by Nazi factions in the Shadow Government using dirty tricks, digital and otherwise. Let’s hope not.

I pray the good and honest people and groups win this epic battle.

Being interested in the culture of oddities, I have driven to Nevada and stayed at the Little Ale’Inn near Area 51 a few times. I enjoy the ET alien thing, the interesting people you can meet, and the science fiction fun aspect of it. I liked the movie Independence Day and enjoyed driving on the ET highway. I also personally like the idea of a US Space Force, although people laugh at it and some strongly oppose it.

How can we fix corruption and undue influence of big business in government if not by “storming Area 51?”

I like capitalism and competition generally, but support an idea by the Yang campaign to reasonably rein in the influence of super wealthy individuals and lobby groups:

Democracy Dollars. The easiest way to minimize the influence of super-rich individuals and SuperPACs in our politics is to drown that money out with contributions by normal Americans. Under my Democracy Dollars plan, every American would receive $100 per election cycle to donate to candidates of their choosing.

Via AndrewYang

I don’t endorse him as a presidential candidate, but I like this idea.

Representative Democracy, allowing the majority of the people (instead of a cabal) to pick the best leaders works well only if we have well informed voters. To make Democracy Dollars work, we first need truth in advertising and truth in news reporting.

Simultaneous with Democracy Dollars, we need laws that provide stiff fines for lies, and even stiffer fines for lies about lies–in other words, an American realist movement.

Candidate Joe Biden made a slip I heard yesterday while he was campaigning. He said, we need to support “truth not facts”. I do not support non-factual “truths” as facts are the basis of truth.

I support accurate and fearless fact checking as the basis for an effective peaceful democracy. We must protect the rights of reporters to investigate and report the truth.

I support local police, the FBI and the CIA and the NSA which I believe to be composed mostly of individuals of strong moral character who sometimes have to fight within their organizations for what is right, for what is truly American, for our rightful way of life.

Please save a copy of this on your computer, in the cloud, etc. and republish the bejeebies out of it if it ever gets “disappeared” by anyone who tries to put other words or ideas into my mouth! 😉

Peace, love and music,

July 2019: Weird So Far

A bunch of big strange stuff happened recently around the world and it’s only the 3rd of July.

On the 1st of July, up near the top of the world, 14 sailors died in a fire on a top secret Russian “nuclear powered” submarine in the Barents Sea.

On July 1, a fire onboard a secretive Russian nuclear submarine killed 14 sailors before it was extinguished.

On July 2nd was a huge NATO anti-submarine exercise according to the Moscow Times.

On Tuesday, NATO kicks off its annual anti-submarine exercise Dynamic Mongoose in the Norwegian Sea west of Andøya, northern Norway.

There was a fireball over Florida in the early morning July 3rd which was reported to be Chinese rocket debris.

July 3 (UPI) — The U.S. Air Force said a fireball that lit up the night sky over Florida was debris from a Chinese rocket.

Also on the 3rd, sink holes opened in Florida and swallowed some trucks.

Authorities in Florida said multiple trucks were swallowed up by a pair of sinkholes that opened up under a business early Wednesday.

Also today, July 3rd, a gazillion photos on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp disappeared for 7 hours due to a technical error. Many were replaced by text showing what AI had guessed the photos were of.

I watched coverage on Agenda Free TV of this massive social media outage on Periscope, which was still working.

Also today, some (reports say two) Army tanks arrived in Washington DC.

The tanks are part of planned 4th of July celebrations.

Another oddity for today, July 3rd, was a man claiming he was “God” being arrested and returned to Puerto Rico on a Delta Airlines flight.

Delta Air Lines flight attendants restrained a passenger on a flight from Puerto Rico to New York after he shouted “I am God!” and claimed he would save the world, forcing the plane to return to the airport in San Juan, Puerto Rican police and the airline said on Wednesday. … Puerto Rican police then took custody of a man identified as Carlos Ramirez, 30, and the case was taken over by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, police said in a statement.

The suspect “was aggressive and shouted ‘I am God! San Juan is going to disappear tomorrow. I came to save the world and I am going to end terrorism,’ and he also tried to enter the main cabin,” the statement said.

As of last month US – Russian relations were at a historic low as an advanced 426 foot long Russian war ship arrived in Cuba near the end of June. Still there?

Russian guided missile frigate Admiral Gorshkov enters Havana’s bay, Cuba, on June 24, 2019.

That’s the latest strange news summary. Have an enjoyable, safe and sane 4th of July, 2019.

Mysterious Flashes: UFOs on Mars?

The Curiosity rover captured a mysterious light flash on the red planet which was not in the image frames taken seconds before and seconds after the flash appears.

Is it just me or does this flash look like the tic tac UFO captured on US military radar according to recent news reports?

There was also another flash photographed previously by the rover on Mars:

The photo in question was captured by Curiosity’s right-hand navigation camera on April 3 (sol 589). The image appears to show an artificial light source that is shining upwards from below. Given the distances involved, the flare is probably a few meters tall.

Again, doesn’t it look at bit like this UFO observed by US military and recently released to the public?

Perhaps not, just a strange observation, a very remote possibility, to consider for fun.

NASA says possible explanations for the flashes are cosmic rays interfering with the Rover’s cameras or brief reflections from shiny rocks on the surface.

A Freaky Fog Dome

It looks highly improbable but this fog dome in Denbighshire, north east Wales was featured on the BBC news after being photographed by a weather watcher on December 2nd, 2016.

Here is the story on this strange fog dome:

Early this morning Weather Watcher Hannah was out walking her dog in Tremeirchion, north Wales when she came across this very unusual dome shaped cloud of fog.

“I just couldn’t believe how perfectly dome shaped it was. After about 10 minutes it started to flatten and looked like low lying cloud along the fields but over quite a big area, it was huge” she said.

Met Office and BBC Weather Centre Forecaster John West shares with us his thoughts on what could be causing this effect.

“This is a very unusual phenomenon, but the most likely explanation is that the “fog dome” has been caused by a source of heat close to the ground, possibly an agricultural building or a relatively warm pool of water. As the fog has formed in the valley this heat source has forced the fog to lift away from the ground into a dome as warmer air rises; like a hot air balloon.”

A French site has an image of a similar looking phonomena at a fountain:

Here is the Google translation:

Here is an image that shows an “identical” phenomenon …. Condensation … differences in temperature … an air saturated with water … wind … and voila!

That said, the main image is still impressive and for me … never seen in 50 years of existence. And so, I will leave this article in the category “Mystery” ..

No one expects the massive mysterious fog dome. Be ready. 😉

Fog Turns Stadium into UFO (Photo)

Here is a great not-a-ufo photo from Reddit. It looks like something from the movie District 9 to me. True strange mothership stadiums of the planet earth.

Here is the likely source. Credit to the photographer, Alexander Lubyanchenko.

Per here:

The [Krestovsky] stadium was opened in 2017 for the FIFA Confederations Cup. Initially, was planned to be completed by December 2008…As of May 2017, the stadium was 518% late and 548% over budget…At a cost of $1.1 billion at current exchange rates, it is considered one of the most expensive stadiums ever built.

(Video) Flying Machines of the Future

A swarm of autonomous drones giving a light show in a building during a TED talk is mesmerizing and amazing to watch. It starts at around 8:18. Highly recommended.

Autonomous systems expert Raffaello D’Andrea develops flying machines, and his latest projects are pushing the boundaries of autonomous flight — from a flying wing that can hover and recover from disturbance to an eight-propeller craft that’s ambivalent to orientation … to a swarm of tiny coordinated micro-quadcopters. Prepare to be dazzled by a dreamy, swirling array of flying machines as they dance like fireflies above the TED stage.

This “athletic” drone can balance a pole and even hit a ball back. Crazy, right?

In a robot lab at TEDGlobal, Raffaello D’Andrea demos his flying quadcopters: robots that think like athletes, solving physical problems with algorithms that help them learn. In a series of nifty demos, D’Andrea show drones that play catch, balance and make decisions together — and watch out for an I-want-this-now demo of Kinect-controlled quads.

Very cool.

At the end of the talk, D’Andrea makes the point that drones can be abused (as weapons) and I agree that this is important to address. This awesome technology can be used for good or bad, it is up to us.

Finally, here are some eagles vs drones. There could be anti-drone eagle units. I’ve read that eagle talons do not get injured by the blades and they they are fast enough to avoid them in any case.

Mystery: Huge Earth Mound Blocks a Russian River

The cause of meteorite and UFO reports about a month ago that moved a massive amount of rock to block a remote river in Russia remains a mystery. Here’s some video of the blockage, which admittedly doesn’t look like much because there is no “before” image to compare.

Some say it was a simple landslide. If so, reports of a blast wave, hot rocks, a hydrogen sulfide smell and a statement that an object entered at an angle and pulled down rocks could just be … bored Russians having fun with reporters?

Hunters Anton Ivanov and Alexander Makan found the dramatically changed landscape on 14 December.

‘You don’t come across this every day,’ said Ivanov.

‘Such scale, such force.

‘There is lots of earth, thousands of tons.

‘It can be seen that something flew here, touched the top of the hill and landed in the water.…

Bureya River: a landslide but not a meteorite impact in Russia

There are reports in various media outlets today about a large landslide on the Bureya River in the remote Khabarovsk region of Russia, which reportedly was triggered by a meteorite impact.  The Siberian Times for example has the following report:-

Experts are at odds over the cause of an extraordinary landfall amid reports of hot rocks and extraterrestrial meteorite fragments on a 160 metre-high hill partially now damming the Bureya, a tributary of the Amur River.  Some experts believe the phenomenon maybe a landslide but this is disputed especially by those who have visited the remote site, some 1,300 km by road from regional capital Khabarovsk.

Alexey Maslov, the head of Verkhnebureinsky district, said after witnessing the newly formed hill: ‘The riverbed is blocked by a bulk, about 600-to-800 metres wide.

‘The height is from 80 to 160 metres above the ice level.  There is no radiation. An object entered at a sharp angle, pulled down a mound and spread it along the river bed. It is not clear what it is: maybe an explosion, a bomb, or a falling airliner.’

This is picked up by for example the Daily Mail:

“A massive landfall in eastern Russia was caused by a meteorite, a falling UFO or a massive bomb, it was claimed today.  First pictures from a remote location in Khabarovsk region show how the 390 mile long Bureya River was partially dammed by a monumental rock fall.  The top was severed from a large hill with rocks crashing down and forming a new 525 ft-high mound in the river bed.”

The location of the landslide is at: 50.559, 131.472.  Satellite imagery suggests that it occurred between 04:49 UT on 11th December and 00:52 UT on 12th December 2018.  This is a Planet Labs image of the failed slope and debris pile:-

Bureya River

Planet Labs image of the landslide on the Bureya River. PlanetScope Ortho image collected 13th December 2018 …

The landslide appears to be about 500 metres wide and up to about 1.5 km long.  It does appear to have blocked the Bureya River, although the debris pile does not appear to be excessively high close to the toe of the failed slope. …

Reader comment:

… many outlets reported that Russian president ordered the military to be ready to blast the new dam that blocks 28% of reservoir volume.

“Following instructions from Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Ministry of Defense joined forces to clean up the bed of the Bureya River, which was blocked by a collapsed hill.

Local scientists already expressed a concern that blasting the dam may trigger another landslide.

… Local hunter Anton Ivanov who found the landscape on December 14, recalls seeing “thousands of tons of earth”.

He said: “It smelled like hydrogen sulphide and vapour comes out in some places. We even found a spot on the very top where there are warm stones, we used them to keep our hands warm.”

Another eyewitness insists it “cannot be man-made”. They added: “Either some building works started or a UFO collapsed here.”

Alexey Maslov, the head of Verkhnebureinsky district, believes the “object entered at a sharp angle, pulled down the mound  – and spread it along the river bed”. …

And fellow expert Dr Evgeny Zubko, from the School of Natural Sciences at the Far Eastern Federal University, said local residents had noted “a blast wave”.

He added: “Whether it will be possible to find the fragments of a meteorite depends on the parameters of the fall – and good luck.”

… there have been no reports of rocket tests that went astray here, let alone plane crashes.

Those who have seen the carnage insisted ‘it cannot be man-made’, he said.

His view is that this was a meteorite strike from a’huge’ lump of space rock block 40 metres of the river channel.

‘We are trying to find the explanation for this incident. I insist that it was a meteorite,’ he said.

Evgeny Zubko, a cosmic dust expert from the School of natural Sciences at the Far Eastern Federal University, said an unnoticed  meteorite is a possible cause.

The mysterious river-blocking mound of dirt is keeping water from this power plant

As of right now, there’s no crater and no debris –just an 800-ton mountain of dirt that wasn’t there a few weeks ago and is now blocking a river that drives the downstream Bureyskaya hydro power station. That means it’s costing someone money

Via MysterUniv

If there was a human tool to move that much rock at once without radiation it would be a notable technological development.

Could a meteor cause the sulfur smell? I think so. This is from one study of multiple meteorites:

Troilite is the chief sulfur component of iron meteorites ... Stony meteorites contain a wide variety of sulfur compounds including water and acid soluble sulfides, elemental sulfur, water and acid soluble sulfates and unidentified components soluble only in aqua regia.

What really happened to block the Bureya River? I’ll update this post if an answer surfaces.

UFO Sounds like a Plane, then a Jet

The dog was acting strange tonight so I went out to see what was up. It took off running and hid across the road. Just then, a group of lights flew over my isolated place in the country.

Here are a few stills because iOS 12 is giving me video that is too large to upload to WP. It worked in the WP app, but was not working on the site.

The lights seemed not otherworldly, but … unusual. The odd thing to me is how they sounded just like an airplane … until they got closer, then sounded like a quiet jet. An airplane/jet hybrid? Hmmm.

It was not a flying triangle, but it is interesting how still images of the lights can give that impression.

40ft Tic Tac UFO with “Cloaking Device” Stalked US Aircraft Carrier for Days

What was the 40-45 foot flying tic-tac with a “cloaking device” that was able to hover in place and take off at the speed of a ballistic missile captured on military radar and visually spotted during training exercises over a six-day period in November 2004 off the coast of southern California and Mexico?

UFO stalked a US aircraft carrier off the coast of California for days before possibly using a cloaking device to disappear, according to a leaked Pentagon report.

The report, published by Las Vegas news station KLAS, reveals new details of the November 2004 encounter including first hand reports from shocked US Navy personnel.

A video of the strange object, shaped like a Tic Tac mint, emerged last December.

And the report reveals further details of how the UFO was repeatedly spotted during training exercises over a six-day period off the coast of southern California and Mexico.

It was initially seen on radar by the crew of the USS Princeton on November 10, who referred to it in the report as an Anomalous Aerial Vehicle (AAV).

Via YouTube

Leaked in 2017 along with the news of the Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program, was a video that revealed an encounter between an F/A-18 Super Hornet and an unidentified flying vehicle. Seen along the East Coast on a Raytheon Advanced Targeting Forward-Looking Infrared (ATFLIR) Pod, the craft was similar to that spotted off San Diego in 2004: It was a fast-moving white oval about 45-feet-long without wings or exhaust plume. The pilots tracked the object at 25,000 feet above the Atlantic Ocean as it flew away and simultaneously rotated on its axis. Whether the vehicle was a product of another country’s technology or alien airship remains a mystery.

The key points in the military assessment are amazing:

This last video has some interesting facts. There are documented unidentified flying objects with thousands of credible witnesses.

Retired Cmdr. David Fravor spent 18 years as a Navy pilot, but nothing prepared him for what he witnessed during a routine training mission on Nov. 14, 2004.

“I can tell you, I think it was not from this world,” Fravor told ABC News. “I’m not crazy, haven’t been drinking. It was — after 18 years of flying, I’ve seen pretty much about everything that I can see in that realm, and this was nothing close.”

Fravor’s stunning retelling of his encounter off the California coast with what appeared to be a 40-foot-long wingless object that flew at incredible speeds in an erratic pattern comes as the Pentagon revealed the existence of a secret program to investigate sightings of UFOs.

The program was shut down in 2012 because of other budget priorities, according to the Pentagon.

“I have never seen anything in my life, in my history of flying that has the performance, the acceleration — keep in mind this thing had no wings,” Fravor said.

He recalled flying his F/A-18 fighter on a training mission on a beautiful Southern California day 13 years ago when things started to get strange.

Controllers on one of the Navy ships on the water below reported objects that were dropping out of the sky from 80,000 feet and going “straight back up,” Fravor said.

… “We look down, we see a white disturbance in the water, like something’s under the surface, and the waves are breaking over, but we see next to it, and it’s flying around, and it’s this little white Tic Tac, and it’s moving around — left, right, forward, back, just random,” he said.

The object didn’t display the rotor wash typical of a helicopter or jet wash from a plane, he said.

The planes flew lower to investigate the object, which started to mirror their movements before disappearing, Fravor said. “As we start to cut across, it rapidly accelerates, climbs past our altitude and disappears,” Fravor recalled.

“When it started to near us, as we started to descend towards it coming up, it was flying in the elongated way, so it’s [like] a Tic Tac, with the roundish end going in the forward direction … I don’t know what it is. I don’t know what I saw. I just know it was really impressive, really fast, and I would like to fly it,” he said.

The disturbance in the water also vanished with object, he remembered.

“So we turned around — we couldn’t have been more than about a couple miles away — and there’s no white water at all in the ocean,” Fravor said. “It’s just blue.”

At that point, they decided to return to complete the training exercise when they were told the object or something similar reappeared.

“And the controller comes up and says, ‘Sir, you’re not going to believe this. That thing is at your half point,’ which is our hold point,” Fravor added. “And I’m like, ‘Oh, great.'”

Another plane that launched from the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz around the same time had its radar jammed and was able to pick up the object on an infrared channel.

“He gets close enough to see a couple of objects come out of the bottom, and then all of a sudden it takes off and goes right off the side of the screen and, like, takes off,” Fravor said.

He recalled that the speed of the object, which he said had no exhaust trail in infrared scanning, was stunning.

“No aircraft that we know of can fly at those speeds, maneuver like that and looks like that,” ABC News contributor and former Marine Col. Stephen Ganyard said.

Fravor said there is no rational explanation for what they saw that day.

“I don’t know if it was alien life, but I will say that in an infinite universe, with multiple galaxies that we know of, that if we’re the only planet with life, it’s a pretty lonely universe.”

There was no further investigation into the incident, he said.

“You know, you see a lot of interesting things,” Fravor said. “But to show up on something that’s a 40-foot-long white Tic Tac with no wings that can move, really, in any random direction that it wants and go from hovering over the ocean to mirroring us to accelerating to the point where it just disappears — like, poof, then it was gone.”

Via ABCNews

The Tic Tac May have been attempting to rendezvous with a giant underwater ship up to the size of a football field.

Pilots indicated there may have been something in the water as well. One pilot detailed a disturbance up to the size of a football field:

“The disturbance appeared to be 50 to 100 meters in diameter and close to round. It was the only area and type of whitewater activity that could be seen and reminded him of images of something rapidly submerging from the surface like a submarine or a ship sinking.”

The disturbed area also resembled shoal water around “a barely submerged reef or island,” but as the pilot flew away, he could see that the disturbance had cleared and seas calmed. Although he never made visual contact with whatever caused the disturbance, the report stated that it may have been caused by an AAV, which was unseen due to cloaking “or invisible to the human eye.”

Via HuffingtonPost

Here are a few options I can imagine

  • False blips inserted into radar with technology, like a hack. (Requires reports of visual contact to be false)
  • Holographic technology (requires “waves made in the ocean” report to be false)
  • An unknown craft of a foreign government.
  • Some super secret compartmentalized US project.
  • The toy of some billionaire.
  • Aliens

This one will be interesting to watch, perhaps more details will surface.

UPDATE: There are reasons some have questioned the video, but to avoid any trouble I’ve removed that speculation.
